Start the year off right by taking an easy step to save your business money.

It’s the start of a new year, which means it is time again for more paperwork.  All Michigan small business owners with less that $80,000 in personal property need to complete the Small Business Property Tax Exemption Claim Form.

While you may have filed it last year, you have to file it each and every year to maintain the exemption.

The form must be completed and delivered to your local unit of government by February 20 this year in order to keep your exemption.

Failure to do so exposes your business to paying property taxes that you and your business could have otherwise avoided.

Have more than one business operating from the same location?  Each business must submit its own form, even if the businesses have the same owner.

Contact Kendal Law Group if you have legal questions about your business.
